Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon
Square Footage: 38,000
Completion: Masterplan 2004, Construction 2005/2006

The current Herald and News facility occupies less than one acre of land
in the central business district of Klamath Falls. This facility and its 1967
Goss Urbanite press are antiquated and unable to meet the color and
circulation demands of this growing region.

ArcWest Architects was retained by Pioneer Newspapers and Herald and News to complete the design for their new Office and Production facility, as well as be the Architect of Record.  Kevin Anderson was responsible for programming, masterplanning and design of this new facility. As part of
the masterplanning process two locations were evaluated. The first
being an historically significant downtown structure adjacent to the
existing facility. The second site, which was selected, is a 12 acre
Greenfield site with significant topographical challenges.

Building concepts which guided the design were views, light and earth.
Office areas are orientated toward near and distant views and the
buildings are nestled into a gently terraced site.

Kevin worked closely with Heidi Wright, Publisher, during the
architectural design and equipment coordination effort. This new facility
will accommodate a new DGM 440 press and have the ability to double
all critical office and production areas.
