Location: Kent, Washington

Completion: Construction 2002/2003
As a member of Chuck Blevins Associates, Kevin Anderson was
responsible for leading the area needs programming and facility design for
the consolidation of two printing facilities, the Eastside Journal and the
South County Journal. These newspapers in addition to various
neighborhood weeklies are to be printed and distributed from the new
55,000 square foot facility which sits on a triangular corner parcel of land
adjacent to the existing south County Facility.
The buildings curved, cylindrical shaped press bay is constructed of low
cost metallic finished metal panels. The metallic surface captures light and
shadow and transforms in color from brown to gold depending on time of
day and weather conditions. Less prominent areas are constructed of
insulated pre-cast concrete panels.
Kevin worked closely with CBA Associates, the local architect of record,
contractor and equipment vendors to investigate alternate equipment
layouts and value engineering options. This facility incorporates asecond
level plate making area which bridges over to the upper platform of the
DGM single wide press.
